Please join us for an evening celebration of the expanded Vanport Mosaic exhibit Vanport: A Surge of Social Change, on display at Pittock Mansion through July 12, 2021.

The event is hosted by community weaver Chisao Hata, and made possible by the generous support of Oregon Historical Society.

We are honored to be joined by Ms. Mariah Taylor and Mr. Edward Washington, Vanport survivors and Oregon’s treasures.
- Explore with us the complex history of Oregon’s second largest city and largest WWII federal housing project, destroyed by a flood in 1948
- Get a glimpse of what you can experience during your visit to the exhibit
- Learn about the evolution of this community-based history-preservation effort, and how this expanded exhibit aims to honor the legacy of the multicultural and multiracial city of Vanport.
- Ask questions, share stories, and join our memory activism community!
